High Value Training Academy bridges the gap between basic safety and real-world proficiency through subsidized, expert-led programs. As a community-focused non-profit, we remove the financial barriers to high-level education, ensuring that safety, empowerment, and legal responsibility are accessible to every responsible citizen in Northeast Ohio.

Expert Instruction

Our courses are designed by a veteran college business professor and retired police officers to ensure a structured, non-intimidating learning environment that prioritizes safety and skill retention.

Subsidized Community Support

Because we are a mission-driven 501(c)(3), our fees are focused on community impact rather than profit, allowing us to offer unique programs like free youth rifle training and affordable safety seminars.

Commonly Asked Questions

We operate as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which means our primary goal is community safety, not profit. While the industry standard for a comprehensive weekend course can range from $400 to $600

No. We understand that many students take our courses to decide what they want to buy in the future. Your tuition includes the use of our student firearms for the class. If you already own a firearm, you are welcome to bring it, but we have safe, well-maintained student pistols and rifles available for you to use at no extra cost

Yes. We believe safety is a family matter. Any youth student (age determined by range rules, typically teenagers) can take our Basics of Rifle Shooting course for 100% free when accompanied by a paid attending parent. This isn't a "bare bones" offer—it includes their student textbook, range time, use of student rifles, and even a box of 50 rounds of .22LR ammunition

Our founder, Jeff Goldstein, is a college business professor by day, not a military drill sergeant. He brings an academic, patient, and supportive teaching style to the range. We focus on "Education, Empowerment, and Fun," replacing intimidation with data-driven feedback and unique training aids to help you learn without the pressure

Every dollar from course fees and donations is reinvested directly into the mission. Our Board of Directors is strictly volunteer and receives no financial compensation. Your money goes toward purchasing student textbooks, maintaining student firearms, buying advanced training aids (like belly bands and dummy rounds), and subsidizing training costs for neighbors who otherwise couldn't afford to learn how to be safe

It depends on the class.
• For Pistol Classes: Ammunition is not included. You must bring your own or purchase it at the range.
• For Youth Rifle Students: We do provide 50 rounds of .22LR ammunition for free to youth students participating in the Basics of Rifle course

We welcome students of all experience levels. Whether you use a "Teacup" grip taught by your grandfather or haven't shot in 20 years, we won't scold you. Instead, we use modern tools—like laser indicators that show "arc of movement" and 3D-printed thumb rests—to scientifically demonstrate how modern techniques can improve your accuracy and comfort

We partner with established indoor ranges in Northeast Ohio (such as in the Fairlawn area). We utilize private training bays separate from the general public to ensure a controlled, safe, and focused learning environment for our students

These are 2-hour, low-pressure range sessions open to the public. Unlike our full-day certification courses, these events allow you to try specific platforms (like lever-action rifles or SBRs) or work on marksmanship drills. These events are free to attend (though donations are appreciated) and are a great way to meet the instructor and practice in a supportive group setting

Absolutely. During our Private Instruction sessions or certain community events, we can assist you in zeroing a mounted optic using a bench rest. Please note that we are instructors, not gunsmiths; the optic must be installed prior to arriving at the range, but we will help you get it dialed in for accuracy
